Matthew Mayer is an Indianapolis based photographer. He lives in Broad Ripple just a few blocks from the Indianapolis Art Center — a place he visits frequently, volunteers occasionally, and draws inspiration from constantly.
Matthew’s been taking photos for nearly 20 years. His background is in photojournalism, and he still enjoys taking photosat events around town. Despite his training in straightforward realism, his work is at its best when the subject transcends that definition. His specialty is abstracting the views of everyday objects. His work is at its best when his photographs meet Magritte. He is in his element when his work shares common ground with M.C. Escher’s impossible spaces.
